but its definatly an X problem, i disabled it while following the guide:

with startx renamed i can use the console without an issue, but unfortunatly that driver install didnt help

is there a different driver than that one i should use instead of
"nvidia-debian.sh 1.0-8776" ?
Uhm, I think you meant install-nvidia-debian.sh 1.0-8776 -force ?? If by "didn't help" you mean you received errors, you need to supply those as well.

The latest driver is 9755, try
Code:
install-nvidia-debian.sh 1.0-9755 -force

yeah i used - force

it didnt give any errors, just the same blank screen with the _ in the top left, my bad, should have been more descriptive

ok i'll try the latest

The errors from your /var/log/Xorg.0.log might also be informative...

linux first-timer here, how do i go about obtaining them for you? :)

well i cant download the new drivers, because neither the network card or motherboard is configured for the internet! (Ahhhh :P)

so i suppose i need to put them onto a USB (Except i dont have any in the house, Damnned girlfreind has them for her art coursework >.< )

i'll put the drivers on an IDE HDD, and try and run them from there

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10314

thats what im following

Tainek@gmail.com if anybody would find it easyer on MSN :)

(help really is appreciated :) )

Edit:

Argh, i must be dense, cant get the HDD to mount, using LS i can see it is in the /dev , but linux insists it doesnt exist

found a USB, cant get that to mount either, Argh

i wouldnt mind a problem if i had a GUI, Consoles dont seem to agree with me

Also

"ID "C7" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 mins" has popped up a few times
