Hi Guys, first post so please be gentle.....

I've just installed Knoppmyth R5F1 on:

ASRock P4S61 motherboard
P4 2800 CPU
256MB ram
20GB Maxtor HDD
Freecom DVB-T USB

Auto install seems to have worked, and I can boot into Linux, but when I get the window that says "Here will begin Configuration of MythTV.....", and I press OK, the system appears to hang.

I'm a complete novice working under Linux, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Possibly talking completely through my hat, but . . .

The ram seems on the low side. The usual recommendation is for 512 meg. I believe I've seen people run on 256 before. It's possible that the F series might have grown a bit and no longer be able to squeeze into that low a ram profile.

Others will mention the 20 meg drive. I suspect your doing the "try it and see if I like it, before committing to a larger drive," approach. My test rig used a 40 gig, which gave it several hours of SD programming room.

RAM is fine, but it would be a good idea to test the RAM. It would also be good to test the CD.
