TJC suggested this question, and I thought it was interesting also. If you had more than one problem, answer whichever issue you felt was the hardest to resolve. I couldn't think of any other options, but if you do, leave your thought in the comments.

I had a mis-jumper HD which wouldn't boot, an evil BIOS problem which caused stability problems (this was the worst), and a RAM problem caused by a tiny little aluminum shaving which got in the DIMM socket after take the machine apart and reassembling it a dozen times chasing the other two.

There were probably others I've blanked form my memory. ;-)

None of the above: Dropped a stitch reading the install CD, rerun with the same CD was OK.
I eventually got rid of all my original CD drives for new ones.
