After a few years of annoyance with EXT3, I've decided to rebuild my Knoppmyth box with a two-drive configuration and XFS on the

After a few times poking around in Manual Install from the boot cd, I'm still not sure how to do this.

I have two hard drives:
hda1 - 40gb
hdb1 - 500gb

Does anyone have tips on how to install / configure this?
I believe what I should do is:
root and swap to hda1 in ext3 filesystem
/myth stuff to hdb1 in xfs filesystem

I don't see how to do this in manual installation.
Thanks!

Setting up the main hard drive in XFS with a default install I am not to sure of how to do. As for the secondary hard drive, with the new Storage Groups for MythTV .21 you can add a new drive with ease. See the wiki for a quick run through for formating and mount the drive. Once done just wait for the latest Knoppmyth with MythTV .21 to come out (soon, don't ask) and you will be set.

There is also this, but I haven't read throught it that well: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=Filesystem+switch

Right, I'd read that, but I'm also concerned with the space available in the root filesystem.

I guess I will do a default install and move /myth as noted in the how-to.

Don't forget the magic of symlinks. I have /videos /tv and /music all on different drives via symlinks. Search around this forum for more suggestions and ideas.

Well, I would not setup root on an XFS type fs. I'd keep it ext3 and just make the second drive XFS to mount on /myth, myself.

Thanks, working through the re-build now.
Some attempts at running a slave backend in another room blew up the master back end machine Saturday morning so now was a good time to look at all this.

I'll try Front End Only on the second machine later. Maybe. Wife was VERY displeased with the DVR being broken. I'm told I can only do 'testing' work on machines that don't have her programs on them!
