Hi,

Installed KM R5.5, clean install on a machine:

Asus P5B-EM (Realtek 8111C NIC)
Intel Chipset
Core2Duo CPU
Onboard Intel Graphics

Installation is fine. However, network doesn't init. I get the green rate light (have GigE), that occasionally flashes, no amber link light at all. I read in the R5.5 Hints that the 8111C drivers are included as loadable modules thus cannot be used in a diskless frontend (darn, wanted to do that). Could this problem be somehow related even though this was a manual install to disk?

Any ideas as to how to get the network going? I've connected another PC to the wire and it works fine so I think the cable/infrastructure are OK. I found another post re: R5F27 stating that an updated Realtek driver was required, is that still the case for R5.5?

Help appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest downloading and booting a recent version of
Knoppix to see if your hardware works.

Other than that, something like this may help:
