Post subject: | R6 install stops |
I'm trying to install R6 on a ASUS P4S800D-X motherboard, intel processor, 1 PATA drive as master and 1 DVD as slave. If I run the install w/o splash screen it stops with the following on the screen. Code: ... not /dev/sr0
:wait 5 ::: Ext2-fs warning (device sda1: ext_fill_super: mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2 ... /dev/sda1 mounted, but no 'larch/larchboot' found attemp to access beyond end of device sba2: rw=0 want=66 limit-2 isofs_fill_super; bread failed, sev=sda2, iso_blknum=16, block=32 attempt to access beyond end of device sda2; rw=0, want=4, limit=2 EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock ... not /dev/sda2 ... not /sda5 :: Scearching for usb cdroms attempt to access beyond end of device sr0: rw=0 want=68, limit=4 iofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=sr0, iso_blknum=16, block=16 ... not /dev/srv0 :: Running Hook [larch2_aufs] aufs 20081208 :: Running Hook [larch3_aufs] ERROR: Sorry, couldn't find boot medium ... Any suggestions? |

The two things I could think of offhand were: 1) did you test the CD to make sure the burn was good? 2) did you try cabling the DVD as a secondary master on its own cable, rather than the slave on the hard drive's cable? |

Since R6 does not come up to a command prompt like previous releases, how do you run testcd? I did however verify the Hash numbers on the image after the download and they were ok, I had also tried separate cables for the DVD/Cdrom on the second controller. |

Wow still no suggestions. Well I decided to try to install Arch Linux to see what happened there. No big surprise but that sure makes it a Arch Linux issue. I did find the same problem on the Arch Linux forum, and was resolved by the following: Code: I don't know why but I changed the usbrelay to 15 and it booted...
Is this a boot setting? Thanks .. |

mihanson, Thanks for the info. Guess I didn't read quite far enough. I was able break at the grub and edit the entry on the Arch install CD, how ever still no luck. I still get the same error. Also, I was not able to create a break in the R6 install cd. Any other suggestions? |

When the cd boot's press TAB to bring up the kernal boot line. Make your edit's on that line. |

jams from IRC answered my question. It appears there is no way to test the CD only the MD5 of the iso file. I guess theoretically you could try copying the CD back to an iso and checking that. YRMV. If anyone runs into problems with the install hanging at the very beginning of the "Please wait, "mythtv" is preparing for life", consider just trying to install again. Worked for me. |
