Post subject:  Where is my PVR250 located

This might be a dumb question, but I have no clue regardless:
When setting up a new Cature Device in the 4-step initial configuration, how can I tell where my tuner card is located? Is it /dev/video, /dev/video0, etc? As a wild guess, I left it set to the default /dev/video after selecting the PVR250/350 option from the first dropdown. As of right now, when I try to watch live tv I am just presented with a gray screen.

Also, when setting up a new video source, after entering my zip code the dropdown box beneath it was not populated with anything. Could this be the source of my problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

/dev/video and /dev/video0 are one in the same. Actually it probably isn't working because nothing is in the database.

To resolve the problem w/ XMLTV:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=138
You can also try:
apt-get update
apt-get install xmltv(that is if 0.5.23 is on the mirrors...)
You'll need to get XMLTV running to fill that database first. Once you get XMLTV working as the mythtv user:
mythtv-setup
then as root
/etc/cron.daily/mythtv-backend
Once this is complete run the frontend.

cesman, thanks for the reply. The XMLTV fix you pointed me to worked great. Before I get into working on the tuner card, I just wanted to make sure that this is what I need to follow:
http://ivtv.sourceforge.net/tiki/tiki-i ... =MythSetup

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by it "not being in the database" but I will follow this anyway. I guess I was originally under the assumption that KnoppMyth was set up to make the PVR-250/350s work "out of the box".

Thanks again!

It does work out the box. You still have to configure MythTV(tell it what /dev/videoX, etc). If nothing is in the database the backend will normally say "Sorry this won't work, nothing is in the database."
