Post subject:  Dell Inspiron video problems

I'm trying to get a Dell Inspiron 7000 (ATI Rage Pro LT video chip) to display the MythTV screens properly on an NTSC TV via the laptop's s-video out port. I setup KnoppMyth with the Auto-Install "TV" option to default to 800x600 and everything went fine. I can see the MythTV menus etc on the laptop's screen.

However, when I boot with the S-video cable plugged into the TV I can see the Linux pengiun and all the text messages displayed on bootup fine on the TV, but as soon as it goes into the X-windows environment I get a scambled (looks scewed) display. I have tried editing The XF86Config-4 file as per the instructions but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any ideas?
