Post subject:  R5A10 keyboard (8042) driver error during install

While booting from R5A10 CD to perform an upgrade (currently running R4V5 just fine for the last 2 months on same system), the message "i8042.c: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042" consistently appears (after successfully uncompressing the linux image) and the keyboard is subsequently nonfunctional upon reaching the KnoppMyth main installation menu. This appears to be a timing-sensitive issue since it doesn't occur on another system I have which is slower. This particular system is a P4 3.2GHz, ECS P848A mobo. FYI, I've tried different keyboards, and the keyboard works fine at the "Press RETURN to see video modes available" prompt immediately preceeding this point during boot. Looks like I'll be waiting for A11... :( Thanks!

Just wanted to note that this worked. Thanks!

(Now let's see if I can remember how to reinstall everything that I had gotten working with R4V5, i.e. IVTV, LIRC, NVidia 6629, NTP, UPSD, etc.)
