I've just installed R5A15 and it appears to be running out, but with messages about not being able to 'connect to socket'....

I've fired up another terminal window and started the backend and everything seems to work OK now...

I noticed on the shutdown that it says the backend isn't running too...

Any ideas?

Did you create a mythtv user during the install? Unfortunately, if you did this then your mythtv user will conflict with the default mythtv user that is built automatically. When this happens the system gets confused about access rights and the backend won't start.

Maybe that isn't your problem but I struggled with this for a while until someone figured that out.

Perhaps a search of the forum? This has been addressed.

So you are saying not to create a mythtv user during the knoppMyth install if so you might have just identified my problem :P I will check this when I get home. This is so exciting

Is it that the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach exciting? Or the "Oh! Of course!" (slaps forehead) exciting? ;-)
