Post subject:  Reinstalling XVMC

I just reinstalled knoppmyth on my system and wanted to see if my AMD K6-2 3D 550Mhz processor could handle i686 version of mythtv. It could not :D

So I figured what the heck, I'll try to remove the i686 version of mythtv with the following commands:
#dpkg -r mythtv-i686
#dpkg -r mythtv-i686-l

#install-i586
#install-i586-l

After I did this /usr/share/mythtv/mysql.txt was missing. So I just copied it over from /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt. Everything seems to be working fine, but my picture quality did not look as good as when I had installed XVMC with the i586 package.

So my questions are:
1) Did I uninstall the i686 and install the i568 packages correctly?
2) What is the script used to install XVMC? Is it mythtv-setup-i586-xvmc or mythtv-setup-i586-lirc-xvmc?
3) In another post someone states that the 0.12 version of XVMC is unstable and they would be better off installing the 0.13 version. What would I have to do to install the 0.13 version if I could?

well the command to remove the i686 packages should have been something more like this

dpkg -r mythtv*

as for installing 0.13 that is talking about mythtv 0.13 and currently the only way to do it is to download the source and compile it. The last statement is not completely true I know, but I don't think the official debs have xvmc support compiled in.

1)dpkg would complain about when you tried to install i586 if i686 was still installed.
2)install-i586-lx will install mythtv w/ native lirc and xvmc.
3)Get the source and edit settings.pro remove the i586 package before you compile.
