Post subject:  Hauppauge WinTv Go 190

I have hauppage PVR 350 - worked great - but I need it for another application.

I figured - for just recording some TV stuff the WinTV Go 190 should do just fine - I have a 900 Mhz Processor - should be plenty. I picked it up and tried to instal it - first of all it did not install easily.

After uncommenting the "alias char-major-81 bttv" line and moving it up I am able to watch the TV in very crappy manner. The images fall further and further behind the sound - and it is choppy.

Any suggestions about what to do. I admit to being new at this kind of configuration on a linux system.

I just may be that your processor isn't powerful enough to watch live tv. I know I couldn't watch live tv w/ a Duron 800.

Not what I want to hear - I can watch TV using my PC as an x11 display with: xawtv -remote
(no sound through)

When you use MythTV to watch "live tv" the video is being encoded and decoded at the same time. This is not the case w/ xawtv.
