I am running Knoppmyth R4V5 upgraded to the 2.6 kernel with a DVB card. My video card is a Geforce2MX400, so I use nvtv to enable the TV out in PAL mode and set the overscan and position adjustments. I have not run the install-nvidia.sh script, so I assume I am using the standard driver (nv?).

My problem is that occasionally the display on the TV goes whacko as if the display settings have changed to a setting outside the normal range. This usually happens when pausing a show or when switching back to the menus after watching a recording or a video (mythvideo) but it is not easy to reproduce (usually only happens when my wife is watching :?). A similar thing happens when switching to a console (ctrl-alt-f1) and then back to X (alt-f7) but I can understand this.

I can get the display working on the tv again by typing the following command at the console and switching back to X before the sleep completes.
Code:
sleep 3 ; nvtv -S PAL -r 800,600 -s Normal -t --set TVhoffset:7

Does anyone know what might be causing my display to go whacko, and if not, is there a way to get the nvtv command to run by pressing a button on my remote?

PS: I currently use the irxevents method with my remote.

Ok, I found the answer to one of my questions. To get something arbitrary to run from a button on the remote you need to be running irexec and have a section something like:

Code:
begin
   prog = irexec
   button = Go
   config = ~mythtv/a_script.sh &
end

in your .lircrc file.

The question remains however, why does the TV output go screwy sometimes?
