After several installs and re-installs, I had forgotten to reconfigure my Ripping prefs to use LAME(MP3) instead of the default OGG. So I ripped a CD in the wrong format.

I tried to "delete" from within the front-end, but couldn't find this. So I deleted the files directly in /myth/music, then went into mysql and removed the entries from the "musicmetadata" table.

Now, when I try to rip, the frontend crashes.

Any suggestions on:

1) what I did wrong, and
2) how to fix it?

Humbly,

Dave VB

If you delete music from /myth/music all you have to do is scan for new music to remove it. Utilities/Setup -> Music Tools -> Scan for New Music
As for what you did wrong, I don't know. Have you check the backend log? Have you ran the frontend from and xterm then check for output?

Hmmm... did the terminal launch thing and saw the following error:

Quote:
mythfrontend: relocation error: /usr/lib/mythtv/plugins/libmythmusic.so: undefined symbol: assert

Soo.... not sure why that started after having deleted the records from the music tables. The backend log shows NO activity for this operation. I assume I need to change the logging level somewhere to see what's happening? It sure doesn't see a "problem" in its current state. It does show other things, like commercial flagging, going on.

I'm stumped.

I did a
Quote:
mysqlcheck -c -umythtv -pmythtv mythconverg

and everything looked fine.

But still, after importing one song off a CD, the front end crashes. The files are in the directory, but nothing is in the database.

??

The frontend errors are posted above. Should I try to reinstall MythMusic? Is that even possible?

Yes, it is possible.
Code:
dpkg -r mythmu<tab>
This will remove the current package.
Code:
dpkg -i /usr/src/mythtv/arch/mythmu<tab>
However if the db is jacked, this may not work....

I did a complete re-install of KnoppMyth after a NEW hard drive got toasted. This time, I set the prefs to rip as LAME from the beginning, and.....

CRASH! Right after the 1st song gets ripped. So it wasn't me!

Not sure why this would happen, didn't seem to crash with OGG (though I haven't tried in the new system).

any ideas about this?
