I am running R4V5 with a PVR-350 and am having trouble recording at the PVR-350's max resolution of 720x480. I changed my "high quality" profile through myth setup from 480x480 to 720x480, but when I record using that profile the resulting frames, though 720x480, have the image squished onto the left side of the frame. In other words, it looks like the frames are still 480 pixels wide with another 240 black pixels padded to the right of the frame.

Is this a common problem?

Weird. You may have to change some other setting as well. I seem to remember seeing something about a capture mode in one of the setup screens related to the profile... Maybe the "stream type" setting? I'd double check over in the MythTU Users archive too...

hey, I've had this same problem too. For some reason when I bump the recording resolution up to 720x480 it does the same thing (squashed image with black on the right of the screen). BUT, I have kinda found a way around it... if I change the bitrate and do all of those settings while the capture resolution is 720x480 then try to watch live tv the image will be squashed... THEN I can go back, change the resolution to 704x480, watch tv, THEN go back and change it back to 720x480 (so in other words the last change you make to the recording profile is to make the resolution 720x480)... that works... at least temporarily for me, I still have to look into it, seeing this problem just came up. Lastly, I need 720x480 as the resolution for MythBurn to work, right? and does the stream type need to be something special also?

I haven't worked with the burning stuff much, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I believe the stream type should just be on the default, and the issue with 720x480 is that it is a dvd standard, so any dvd player can play it where other resolutions are not part of the standard, so not all dvd players will play it back properly. However the burn process should still work, and might even play properly on computer based dvd player and some stand alone models, but not all.

I'm having a simialar issue using 720x480. My playback is fine for a while but suddendly it will expand off to the left and shift slightly and sometimes turn all green/purple. Here's my current thread: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=23187#23187
