1. Get the MythTV source.
2. Get the diff you want.
3. Patch the source w/ the diff.
4. Build the deb.
5. Install the deb.
6. Enjoy!

The following diffs are available.
MythPlugins i586
MythPlugins i686
MythTV i586
MythTV i686
No, there is no 0.18.1 MythThemes.

Example:
Code:
mythtv@mbe:~ $ tar xjvf mythtv-0.18.1.tar.bz2
mythtv@mbe:~ $ cd mythtv-0.18.1
mythtv@mbe:~/mythtv-0.18.1 $ patch -p1 < ../knoppmyth_tv_0.18.1_i686.diff
mythtv@mbe:~/mythtv-0.18.1 $ chmod +x debian/rules
mythtv@mbe:~/mythtv-0.18.1 $ dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -us -uc -b
This will take some time depending on CPU as the binary packages are built. Once complete, simply install them.
Code:
mythtv@mbe:~/mythtv-0.18.1 $ dpkg -i ../*.deb
Follow the same procedure for the plugins.
NOTE:You should stop the backend before installing the new debs. You must have 0.18.1 installed before compiling the plugins.

This appears to have worked great for my master backend.

I tried the same on my remote frontend and got the following error when trying to install the debs:

Code:
Setting up mythtv-database (0.18.1-3_km_i686) ...
Failed to connect to database: Access denied for user: 'root@192.168.1.35' (Using password: NO) at -e line 5, <> line 1.
Failed to create database (incorrect admin username/password?)
If you supplied incorrect information, try:
dpkg-reconfigure --force mythtv-database
dpkg: error processing mythtv-database (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
...[snip]...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of mythtv:
 mythtv depends on mythtv-database (= 0.18.1-3_km_i686); however:
Package mythtv-database is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing mythtv (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
...[snip]...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mythtv-database
 mythtv

Thanks for the info and the diffs, cesman. Worked like a charm :)

Will upgrading to the latest Mythtv rewrite the database tables? or does it just create the binaries?

Building a deb, builds a "binary". So...

Any ideas on what happened when I tried to install the debs on my remote frontend (posted above)? Or should I just auto-upgrade via R5A16?

Does this release fix the 'black screen' issue when going from EPG to Live TV using a pvr 350 TV Out?
