the cutlist is created by the commercial flag process. and if you use the aforementioned utility you will just setup an automatic transcoder, or better yet just edit the cutlist as specified earlier in this thread cause it may eat much of your show otherwise and start the transcode process by hitting X. I am not sure where the cutlist is stored, but you can obviously sent it to an external script as nuvexport can use it if you tell it to. but in the case of the aformentioned program/script/plugin (whatever you want to call it) it integrates directly into mythtv and takes the place of the normal mythtranscode (at least from the way I understand it.) maybe you should read the wiki page he mentioned.

Thanks, I'll read up the cutlist etc. What I dont want is a transcoder. I dont want to downres anything. I'm looking for a commerical stripper (not that kind of ;-). Something which takes the commercial info created by mythcommflag and use that to strip commercials out. I would like that utility to run outside of myth plugins etc. So I can run it from commandline.

I'll look at the wiki log and try it out. I did download the commercial_cut 0.2 version on a .nuv file which was commflagged already. It created a file which was may be few kbs smaller than original and deleted my original also. That was may be 2 weeks back. May be I'll give it another go.

Thanks

I don't know if it will work for HD, but if you give it a try and it doesn't, chances are we will be able to get it to work. Originally, it didn't work for PVR recordings, but with a bit of feedback I was able to modify it so that it did.

Greg,

So, basically, I should just run your program on the .nuv as described in your viki ? Will it delete the original recording from the /myth/tv directory ?

I'd like to create another file from the original, i.e. keep both original and the comm.cut one so that I can compare.

Any debug options I can enable to see what its doing and save it for debugging ?

Thanks

If you insert a delete after cutpoint in one of the first 25 frames, it will keep the original recording (although it will be given a new timestamp 1 minutie older than the original time. This was to prevent mythtv removing the recording and the recordedmarkup info when commercial_cut is used in place of "transcode" and when it is initiated from the mythtv interface).

You can't enable any more logging than it already does.

Greg,

How do I "insert a delete after cutpoint in of the first 25 frames" ? I'm at a total loss.

Thanks

Watch the recording in mythtv. press e to enter edit mode (or m to bring up the menu and select Edit Recording). Then Page Up (or is it down)? until you get to the start of the recording press space and you will be given a list of options one of which will be "Delete after this frame" or words to that effect. Select that option.

Place other cutpoints as required.

There is a key you can press to load the comercial detection marks as a cutlist which you can then modify (this will probably remove your delete after cut in the first few frames so be careful). There is also a key to remove all cutpoints. Refer to the mythtv documentation on keys.

Greg,

I just "uploaded" the cutlist via the Z key in the edit mode. Then removed a few cut points. I need to learn how to adjust the cut point and make them move little bit left or right. But anyway, the only thing needed to make the commerical_cut work is simply "load" the cutlist. I wish myth atleast gives a command line option to automatically load the cutlist.

After loading the cutlist via Z key, it took me about 12 mins to remove all comm's from the 13GB Star Wars II movie and get it under 9GB !

I need to play it and make sure it didnt cut something extra :-)

Thanks for a great program !!!

Greg,

I'm using version 4 to remove commericals from the mpeg2-ts streams. It does remove commercials, but the recorded time is out of whack.

A 3 hour Star Wars Episode II movie, which was 3 hours before commercial cut is now 5 hrs 14 min. Lost 1 hour is now 1 hour 44 mins.

Thanks
