I'm trying to set up the knoppix-terminalserver so I can have diskless frontends, but I'm running into a little difficulty.

For security reasons, the clients on my network are on a different subnet than the server. I have a machine running as a firewall/router/dhcp/etc. that straddles the subnets, and it is set to allow traffic to pass between the two.

I modified /etc/init.d/knoppix-terminalserver appropriately, so that it won't start dhcpd or bind, and will create the config files correctly (so I think). I also set up my other DHCP server to specify the appropriate next-server.

When a client tries to boot, the DHCP server gives it an address and the next-server address, and it downloads the kernel and gets to the boot splashscreen. I hit enter, and I can see it load vmlinuz and miniroot.gz... It then loads the network modules and requests a DHCP address again, which it gets.

Then it says "Trying to mount CD on 192.168.10.5:/myth/terminal_server...OK." followed by "Can't NFSmount KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry" and drops me to a shell.

192.168.10.5 is the correct address for the server.

My /etc/exports reads:

That is the right network and subnet mask, so I'm kind of confused as to why it's not working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update: if I boot the supposed-to-be diskless client from the CD, then open up a shell and manually mount the NFS server, it sits there for probably 30 seconds, then works. So... The NFS server isn't completely screwed up.

It would help if we knew which release you were using as this was broken. It has been fixed however.
