Thanks Syracuse, I appreciate the help. I ran that script and I am not picking up anything in the digital camera, I'll grab the volt meter here and see if anything is coming through. Would being plugged into COM1 have any effect on this script? Well I seem to be getting something on the Volt Meter but its hard to measure. Im leaving the country this afternoon so I wont be able to work on it again till the 24th. Thanks for the assist though guys. Hopefully it works and I just cant see it.

If your /dev/irblasterd was created for COM1, it should work.... that's why I recommended re-creating the /dev/irblasterd to ensure it is using COM1. Note that the signal may be too fast for the VOM to see the voltage change, you can increase the "sleep" value (whole numbers only).

I increased the sleep and I am definately picking up voltage output, so its possible the IR source is just really weak. When I get back from Japan I'll set it up and test it out on the box at home.

Thanks.

It could just be thatthe configuration file you are using does not work for the device you are trying to control. The only option if you cannot find a config file for your device is to get/build a homebrew ir receiver and record the codes from the remote control for the device.

DTR defaults high (10v I think) and should toggle below it.

Now theres an interesting question. I believe I have the proper codes but how the duece do you record codes off of a UHF remote? Actually I dont really get how you would record them off of a IR remote either.

You can easily record the codes of an ir remote using a homebrew ir receiver. With a UHF remote, you are probably out of luck. I have never heard of a UHF blaster, which is what you would need to control the device the the UHF remote controls.

WEll that is partially my concern, however I have come to the conclusion after copious amounts of reading that the Bell recievers have IR sensors in them as well so I could probably pick up an IR remote if I wanted to. I have a MCE IR reciever so I dont know how it would record the codes. Which I suppose I can always suck it up and pick up a remote and test it once I figure out how to record them.
