I have a digital cable box that I get a handful of movie channels on. I just added a second tuner, but with only a few extra channels on digital vs. straight cable, it doesn't really make any sense for me to rent out a second cable box. Is there a way to configure MythTV so that it understands that both tuners' lineups match on the non-digital channels, and that either tuner can record the non-digital lineups, but when it comes to the digital channels only the first tuner may be used for recording?

two separate zap2it accounts one for each capture card...only include digital channels on one of the lineups

Setup a first lineup with everything, and generate a second reduced lineup from the first. Search for my update_database.sh script which shows how to do this. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10075

Note that the DB schema has changed slightly in the newer versions so you may need to add a column or two to match the current state of affairs.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

The one thing that doesn't take care of is adding an entry to the videosource table (I was merging two into one rather than creating a partial clone), but you only need to do that once anyway.
