Do you mean that as R5E50 comes, the user doesn't have to do any SID updating (whatever that is) and xfe will simply load and work?

KnoppMyth is build on top of Debian Linux. Debian's releases are named after the charcters in "Toy Story".

SID - Will always be the newest/latest/greatest and just like the SID charcter in Toy Story is labled by Debian to be the unstable branch.

Sarge - Is the current stable release.

Woody - Came before Sarge and was released as a stable release

sorry,

R5E50 is built on SID. SO the underlying debian is newer.

xfe and lots of other useful stuff now works well with a simple apt-get. However as always, be creful out there :-)
Sweet! That's the answer I hoped for!

Right as he said : Be careful!
attempting to `apt-get upgrade' or upgrading _anything_ that MythTV depends upon could be harmful to system functionality.

Thanks for the reiteration of being careful with apt-get. I certainly will.

I've learned to do an
Code:
apt-get install (package name) -s
to see what is going to happen before I let it do anything.
I've stayed away from doing
Code:
apt-get upgrade
as I understand it will do very bad things.
