I've recorded a 3 and a half hour show and am attempting to archive it to DVD to watch at a friends house. The total filesize is 7.5gb and I've gone through and adjusted all the automatic commercial markings to make an accurate cutlist.

I go load up the Mytharchive option from my frontend and add the file into my "files to burn list" at this point, the size is correctly being noted as 7.5gb. Where I'm running into an issue is when I go to actually archive the file it's being identified as a 4.00gb file. I'm trying to burn this to a Dual Layer DVD+R so I'm selecting no resize and am letting it process through. The 4.00gb marking kinda scares me and suggests that this isn't going to process properly so I'm selecting the option to create an ISO (and unselecting burnDVD) so that I don't waste a 5 dollar disc when/if things go bad.

Has anyone else succesfully mytharchived recordings larger than 4.00gb? Is this a known bug or issue?

I have created a few (~10) DVDs using DL discs (8.5GB capacity). What Mytharchive shows does not include any savings from commercial cuts as it doesn't know what the savings will be until mythburn.py is run. Also it doesn't decide to resize recordings to fit the disk until after the commercial cuts have been performed. If you watch the logs you will see these various steps.

On another note in R5E50 you do have to be careful as mythburn.py has incorrect capacities for DVDs. DVD-DL are 8.5GB which in binary is
8.5e9/1024/1024/1024=7916MiB. I changed it to 7900 as mytharchive fudges the menu size calculations so I give it a little extra margin.

I _always_ make an ISO and test it before burning it. Some recordings just have to be transcoded even if DVD compliant for various reasons. I had one disk I had to archive 5 times to get everything to work and to fit. That was mainly because I was fiddling with the disc size in mythburn.py.

About 4GB, do make sure you selected DL in the initial mytharchive screen (not recordings selection). You should see 8.5GB in the vertical capacity bar. Also note that one of the keys changes the capacity (info?) from SL-DL and back, so watch out for that. I ran in to that when I was trying to select the DVD menu thumbnail images (which is not in R5E50). Otherwise I think you can safely ignore what mytharchive shows for episode size.
