what you talking about is console like xsecrets was saying.. although i have heard of a Xconsole (or something like that) havnt tried it though.

I would seriously doubt that it would work the way you are talking about, It might if the other machine has a nvidia card and has the nvidia drivers installed, however at that point it would be adjusting the wrong display.

This needs to be run from the mythtv box directly.

thanks Xsecrets. I managed to get nvidia-settings running. The flicker control has helped tremendously with the motion blur that I was seeing. On-screen motion looks extremely smooth - just like broadcast.,

I also tried the texture enhancement filter and that hasn't helped with the sharpness. I'm still hunting around for a working solution to the sharpness problem. The picture looks almost like there is some kind of aggressive denoise filter is running (but it's not).

Just a note... When you notice that you screwed up the formatting or spelling or grammar in a post you *CAN* go back and edit it. I do this all the time. I also think it's good practice to correct directions and walk throughs. I do NOT do this as a matter of revisionist history, I generally 'fess up to mistakes and gaffs, but rather to reduce the risk of folks following bad directions...
