Hi,

I followed the WIKI to install the ipod script for DviX, but I get an error:
Waiting for mythtranscode to set up the fifos.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Regards,
Victor

Anyone gotten this to work for R5E50?

I'm tempted to try it, but it looks like a lot of tinkering and my system is the most stable its been in years. I don't want to mess that up.

Out of the box, no. With using an updated nuvexport, Yes,
But using the nuvexport --transcode option rather than --ffmpeg. Off the top of my head I remember I had to upgrade nuvexport and modify a file to disable VCD and SVCD as they were broken and not allowing nuvexport to run.

I did my upgrade to Nuvexport a while ago so all the problems may be fixed in current version of Nuvexport.

Try having a look under Utilities/Setup->Setup->Media Settings->Archive File Settings->2nd Screen.

I'm getting this error with your mp4 script. Any suggestions? The first pass went ok. But it fails on the second pass.

Ok, I am lost now.

I setup the XviDEncoding as mentioned in the wiki (http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... iDEncoding).

If I run the command "/usr/local/bin/myth2xvid "%DIR%" "%FILE%" " from the commandline it is working ok!

I also configured in mythtv-setup and under General, setup one of your User Jobs to run this script (/usr/local/bin/myth2xvid "%DIR%" "%FILE%").

But, when I want to encode an individual file to the feed by hitting the info button on a recording in the Watch Recordings screen, then selecting Job Options, Encode for XviD, it is doing nothing!!?? At least, I don't see anything happen in the TOP and no files or logging is created.

How do I have to use it? Did I do something wrong here? I am realy lost now....

Thanks for your ideas...

Ok, Since you can now run it from the command line I will assume you got the script Nuvexport stuff working.

Does the mythtv user have permissions to run usr/local/bin/myth2xvid ?

What does below command output?
Code:
ls -l usr/local/bin/myth2xvid

The mythtv user will need x to the file to start that script.

Crap, I see some of the WIKI got corrupted too "–" charters all over. I may have made an offline copy of that howto.

@dwaine I never played with x264, but it looks like you are using MEncoder. You look at the nuvexport guide on MythTV wiki?

Also is this wiki guide http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... DArchiving ,

My output:
Code:
root@mythtv:/# ls -l usr/local/bin/myth2xvid
-rwxr-xr-x 1 mythtv mythtv 11133 May  3 23:15 usr/local/bin/myth2xvid

Could the problem be that in R5E50 all the recordings are stored in the pretty folder with userfriendly names? (titile of the show in the file)

No, The recordings are stored in /myth/tv /myth/pretty is symlinks with readable names to the mpg or nuv files in /myth/tv

Check you status of jobs in Information Menu>System Status to see if the job is running or just failed.

I was not aware that you were able to see the status of the job. That is handy to know ;-)

I see in the Job Queue that my job status is Queued. The status is not changing in time and still is Queued, the job is started a few days ago.
Why is that? Quite funny because my box has almost no loading.

Try stopping the job, from queue. I fixed the WIKI typos may want to review again. To answer your earlier question on how I got it working with R5E50. Bascially I just went by the WIKI from R5D1, updated Nuvexport according to Cecil's directions here.
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=79265
and fixed some lines in /usr/local/bin/nuvexport detailed in this thread

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13607 (4th post from top by me)

However since all these fixes I have moved to MythTV and Nuvexport SVN so my system is now very different from a vanilla R5E50 install.

When U say you tested myth2xivd from console do you mean you ran something like?

Code:
myth2xvid /myth/tv 1004_20070104271000.mpg

That command is all that the myth2xvid script is running from MythTV replacing %DIR% AND %FILE% parameters.

Yes, you are right. I tested it with a command like:
Code:
myth2xvid /myth/tv 1004_20070104271000.mpg

I will check the both links you put in the message tomorrow, I have lack of time today. I will keep you updated, I am sure that this issue can be fixed this week! Then everything is working and I will be the happiest boy on earth :)

well SpallVI, I changed some lines as specified in the other topics you mentioned. But still the same.

If I run the
Code:
myth2xvid /myth/tv 1004_20070104271000.mpg
manually on the command prompt it is working. But runing it as a job against a recording still doing nothing. The job is Queued and stays Queued (realy nothing happens, I check the top and no load).

I don't understand this. Can we check what is going wrong here? It is not in the script, that is something I know for almost sure.
