I'm afraid I may have completely killed my computer...

I've been trying to get mupen64 to work for three days now with very little success. On their webpage they were talking about using gtk1.2 vs gtk 2...so i thought maybe installing gtk 2 would make it work better (i really had no idea what i was doing...). So, I looked around on the message boards here to make sure i didn't see anything about gtk2 breaking knoppmyth. I didn't, so i went ahead and did apt-get install gtk2.0-dev. It installed a whole bunch of dependencies, and it looked like it was installing xorg too? After rebooting my computer, not only did mupen64 still not work, but half the menu options in mythtv are missing! It seems I can only watch tv. No music, no videos, no games...are they not compatible with xorg, or did i do something else??? how to i get it back the way it was???

Sounds like apt-get removed mythplugins among other things. Known problem with apt-get if you're not careful (searching forum will show up plenty examples in the last couple of months). The problem can be alleviated /avoided by editting your sources list, but right now your best option is a reinstal... :(

Okey doke...thanks for letting me know. At least knoppmyth does a good job of backing up and reinstalling without losing my files. I searched the forums, but I was looking for something related to the package i was installing, I didn't realize it was apt-get itself. Sorry about that.
