I know that MythTV V19 now uses mpg format for recorded shows. I have some old .nuv files that I want to load onto my new Knoppmyth R5C7 installation. I used the myth.rebuilddatabase.pl script. It worked fine, but Myth won't play the files. They were recorded on a PVR 350 so they're really mpg files. Can I just rename them? myth.rebuilddatabase only "looks" for .nuv files. Is there a procedure for this. I have been looking and I can't find any mention of this.

If this is already discussed somewhere, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

KW

The problem went away after I changed themes and rebooted.
I went back to the original theme and it works too. Go figure.

Is Myth V19 supposed to be able to play .nuv files? Answer=YES

My system just worked after the upgrade, plenty of nuv files. If yours has trouble, I'd try (in order)
1) renaming to .mpg. If this doesn't work,
2) stick it in the video directory, and let mplayer/xine take care of it (both will play just about any format)
3) if nothing else will work, demux it and remux in mpeg-2 format.

A good rule of thumb would be to try it first: renaming a file isn't going to cause irrepairable damage to it (copy it with 'cp -p <file>' if you're still unsure)
