I have been having firewire stability issues and decided to chose a different method. After 3 months of pain, googling, threads, forums, and questions. I decided to get a pvr-500mce. I want to use the s-video connection on it to watch tv from my cable box.But because I have the pvr-500 and no irblaster it makes channel changing a pain.

Is there a way to use the 6200 channel changing module to change the channels on a dtc-3412. I dont want to watch the the TS stream through firewire anymore. I just can't seem to get it stable enough during live tv. It may work fine for a few hours. But after a while I just get prebuffering pause errors. Rebuffering messages. Crashes. libiece bandwidth modify problems, no signal for 15 seconds, etc. I am sure it will mature soon, but rignt now I just want to watch tv.

The 3412 doesn't have any serial ports, and an irblaster would be dependent on my wife not killing me for ordering junk every 2 weeks. I may be able to sneak it in, but I need to try everything else first.

Plus, this will be more elegant as I wait for firewire capture to mature.

Any ideas?
