Post subject: | MythBurn error - UPDATE - RESOLVED |
Everything seems to work fine with MythBurn until it actually starts trying to write to the DVD. The DVD light never comes on and I get this error: /dev/dvd: media is not recognized as recordable DVD: 9 I did have a DVDR in the drive, placed there just before I started the process, which took at least 10 or 15 minutes to get to the error. The problem is I don't remember how to check symbolic links to see if it is even pointing to the right place (even had to look up how to create them...been a while) and a search did not turn up this particular error on this forum or Google. I am getting to be an expert on installing KnoppMyth (for my equipment, anyway), but have just started working with MythBurn and know nothing about it. Is there configuration I need to do or something? Here is my hardware: Asrock GE Pro M motherboard P4 2.4GHz 533 FSB processor 256MB PC133 memory x 2 = 512MB total WD 40GB 7200RPM main drive, 5GB main, recommended swap (hda) (I have changed the remaining 35GB to be /home) WD 160GB 7200RPM storage drive (hdc) (Mounted as /myth or /mythtv, whichever is standard, can't remember) Aopen 16x DVDRW +- (hdb) (newest model with three colored bezels, don't know exact model) Hauppauge PVR-150 MCR w/remote, reciever, IR Blaster (all working except IR Blaster, which I haven't even tried yet) MSI nvidia 6200 128MB AGP video card Floppy - used, nothing special, don't even know if it works I am using R5C7 and have modified the following from standard install: Used vi to modify: /etc/inet.d/lirc per advice on this board to get remote working /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv per advice on this page to get tuner working Modified mount locations (using vi on fstab) changed home from /dev/hda1/home to /dev/hda2 (I think it's hda2, assuming swap is hda3) (copied all files to new location before reboot) changed /myth from /dev/hda2 to /dev/hdc1 (larger storage drive on it's own IDE cable for performance) (copied all files to new location before rebooting) I have no other errors with this configuration (that I have found) and it seems to work beautifully for watching and recording. Everything else I did, I think, is all standard configuration that you have to do no matter what your hardware or personal quirks/prefrences. Thanks in advance. UPDATE: It was permissions for the DVDRW chmod a+r /dev/hdb chmod a+w /dev/hdb chmod a+x /dev/hdb This can all be done in a single command, but I can't remember how. Works great now. Thanks go to Dennis Hand of MythDora for this fix. |
