with xbox media center I can hit play on any bin or iso file and it plays, mythtv doesnt even detct bins as videos in the videomanager, is there any way to play bin and ISO files with mythtv?

MythTV doesn't play these files (well, the Internal player may...) as the default w/ KnoppMyth is to use MPlayer as the player that MythVideo calls. You simply need to add bin and ISO to the list of file extensions and MPlayer should have no issue playing them. It is in the Settings -> Media Settings....

Interestingly enough i found out the iso files that will not play are ones I ripped using import dvd, mplayer from command line states the VOB files are encrypted... which is odd because movies that I rip to vob work fine.
So it looks liek the rip to ISO feature does not decrypt the DVD liek the Rip to Vob feature....
