Post subject: | Lirc and IRBlaster R5C7 |
I am new to Linux and KnoppMtyth and I'm tinkering with KnoppMyth R5C7 on a spare box with a BTTV capture card. I built a homebrew irblaster with a reciever and transmitter on one serial port. Sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes not, seems to depend on config files. mode2 always sees the raw data from the reciever, but I am having trouble consistently getting irsend to work. irw gives me: Code: connect: Connection refused and irsend: Code: irsend: could not connect to socket
irsend: Connection refused What I need is that someone (maybe Greg Frost, you seem to know a thing or two about lirc and irblasters) to explain the role between lirc and irblaster, like what modules needs to load, and in what order, and which config files are used by the respective modules/daemons. I'm sure my only remaining problem is getting the proper config files in the right locations so that all the neccesary modules can load. I use a universal remote and control an external Multichoice DSD910 satellite reciever, so I just record the required codes with irrecord rather that search for config files, btw irrecord also always work. Thanks in advance. |

Post subject: | Homebrew IRBlaster - SOLVED |
Ok, I figured it out, I must have been half asleep. I have been trying to use /dev/blaster instead of /dev/blasterd I have been restarting lirc, which reinstates /dev/lircd as the lirc device, as I tried to figure out how this all fit together. That's why irw and irsend seemed to work intermittently, as they use /dev/lircd as their default when you don't specify the device. Oh, btw, for those unfortunate souls living in South Africa. The conf file for the Multichoice DSD910 remote found on www.lirc.org/remotes has an error. Just remove all the extra protocols exept RC5 from the line: Code: flags RC5|SHIFT_ENC|CONST_LENGTH I'm not certain this is necessary, but it doesn't hurt.
