Post subject:  Is there a walkthrough for setting up TV-out via S-video?

I have Knoppmyth running fine on an old PC with a PVR-250 and an N-Vidia 5200 graphics card. I want to output this to my HDTV via S-Video. The card has DVI and S-Video outputs. However, I'm not trying to do anything hi-def. I'm worried about setting up Myth correctly so I don't hurt the TV. I figure S-Video is probably the lesser hassle, so I'd probably choose that output.

QUESTION: Is there a truly easy step-by-step walkthrough regarding how to setup TV output? For example, I have no idea how to do any XF86Config modification, nor do I know what exactly to change.

Many thanks in advance. Sorry for the noob question.

that is pretty in depth. proabably with a fx 5200 and svid as long as you are in ntsc land you could most likely get away with just copying over the tvout sample config file.

Xsecrets,

Thanks. You beat me to it. I was about to post the link myself. However, I'm still nervous about the command-line stuff. The "monitor to tv transition" explains many steps. However, a noob like myself does not even know how to open a text window to start the process. Same goes for how to save a file, once I've modified it. Is there something out there for the truely linux-challenged?

Thank you for everything. Knoppmyth amazes me each time I use it.

spalVl,

Great, now I'm set. Sorry I didn't find that on my own.

Cheers!
