How do you ensure the dvd is being created as NTSC?

I use the web-based interface to mythburn, and theres a dropdown box in it that asks NTSC or PAL. I dunno where it is in the settings for if you are burning thru the tv interface... Sorry

I found the web-based interface to mythburn much easier to use, actually. heh.

Okay, I checked my settings and I am indeed using NTSC. Is there anything else that would cause the dvd to work on some and not others? They all show at least some video, but if it's not a computer, it gives me problems.

baishen: Try a different brand of DVD, or perhaps try a +R disc instead of a -R disc, or vice-versa. My parents have a DVD player that will play HP brand discs, but wont play Phillips brand discs, burnt the exact same way, on the exact same burner with the exact same software. I have one here that will play HP brand 16x discs, but wont play HP brand 8x discs.

DVD burning and compatability seems to be a bit of a clusterf*ck sometimes!

It might take you a few tries to find the "right" media for you, but once you do, stock up and have fun.

Hey folks, I have another issue with MythBurn. I'm trying to make recordings of some shows that I can take over to my mom to watch, but I'm having some playback issues, on some DVD players. My mom and dads old DVD player in their living room wouldnt play ANY burnt dvds, none created with myth, none created on my PC, copied, or something that I authored myself. So, we got them a new Philip's brand dvd player. It has no issues playing DVDs that I author myself or copies I make of commercial DVDs... but it certainly does have issue with the DVDs I burn from ISO's created out of MythBurn. The menu starts out looking out, but when you select a program and start to watch it, the display is kinda garbled, or it blinks/rolls. Totally unwatchable. Now, I tried a different brand of DVD media, and with this new media, both their old player and their new player WILL play burnt/copied dvds... but still not MythBurn dvds. My sister has a Zenith DVD player, and it plays all copied/burnt dvds, even MythBurn dvds, just fine, without any issues. Its a little older, and I couldnt find it anywhere, otherwise I woulda just bought one of them, as the replacement for in their living room. Here at my apartment, we have an RCA dvd player, and it plays all copied/burnt media, even MythBurn DVDs. However, in the office, my older Zenith, older than my sisters, will NOT play MythBurn dvds, but it will infact play any other copied/burnt dvds I make. So, where do I begin?! Narrowing it down, it seems like this has to be some sort of issue with the recordings coming out of Myth, something that some dvd players dont have a problem playing and something that some do. But, what? For the life of me I cant figure it out... So any suggestions would be VERY helpful and greatly appreciated! Thanks! --Eric

Verify you are creating correct DVD type for your region. ie NTSC or PAL.

Wow, dont I feel stupid. I thought I was doing the right thing, using PAL, because it had a "better resolution". Boy was I wrong. Apparently those two DVD players were having issues in the PAL-->NTSC conversion, and wernt playing the dvds right. When I burned the dvd video using NTSC mode, it played on the two players at my parents' place that it wouldnt work on before. However it still doesnt work on my player in the office. But thats not a big deal, and not a huge surprise -- as that player is nearly 5 years old THANKS! --Eric

How do you ensure the dvd is being created as NTSC? I'm having the same problem as the OP. All my recordings are from an NTSC source, so shouldn't the dvd burn as NTSC?

The tv interface was pretty easy to use IMO. I have to create ISO's an' move them to my main machine because I don't have a burner on the myth box. Can you do that easily with the web interface?

I've used this same media to burn other dvd's, an' I haven't had a problem with them. And usually, if my player doesn't like a dvd, it won't play at all. These will play the intro, but once I try and pick a show to watch, it just hangs.
