I just got my new mce remote (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Im ... mote-2.jpg minus the colored buttons at the bottom) working by following the instructions in the forum about copying lircrc and lircd.conf from usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/mceusb2/etc/ . Looking at the lircrc file it appears that it works by only mapping keys for irxevent rather than for mythtv and xine etc. My questions iare is that the best way to do it? Is there a specific reason it was setup that way? I've noticed that the remote completely ceases to function if anything disturbs the focus (xine throwing and error for example), and if I log in remotely from my other computer to edit anything it seems to make the remote not work as well. Is there something about the mce reciever and remote that requires this? I ask specifically becasue I tried to use a more "traditional" lircrc file and I couldn't get it to work, but that was before I had gotten it to work at all.
Anyway, I hope you mce veterans can help a newcomer to the wonderful world of Microsoft hardware.
