Post subject:  How do I purge the music media database?

For some reason when I first installed, the music manager picked up all of my mp3's in triplicate. So it shows aroun 97000 songs and it's so slow indexing them that I can't even get the player to come up. I have tried deleting all of the mp3s and enter into the Music Tools hoping that it would detect all the songs were gone and drop them out of the database. This didn't work. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Been there, if you do an ls /myth/music/mus* I think you will see a second music and if you look into the second you will see a third ....

The cure is simple,
$ rm -rf /myth/music/music
the second, third, fourth, n+ will be removed.

Then go into your utilities and rescan your music.

Just be carefull with the typing.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked and I have nothing under my /myth/music/* directory. I think this is just a matter of somehow getting the table in the sql database dropped, or a command line utility I don't know about that will do it.

Hi,

If you don't store your tunes in /myth/music then check the directory where you do store them and look for a second dirctory of the same name. Any duplication of directories would be highly questionable.

Once you find and remove the duplicate, do a new music scan to clean the db.
