Post subject: | R5D1 Frontend and R5C7 MBE don't cooperate |
Hi there, did I misunderstand something or is something screwed up with my system... I do not know. ![]() I upgraded my frontend from R5C7 to R5D1 because of some issues I had with stuttering Live TV in C7. Before the upgrade I tried the "Knoppmyth live CD" option to check that it will work. And it worked, so I backed up everything, migrated, and restored using tjc's hints. Now, I end up in strange "unexpected response to MYTH-PROTO-VERSION"-errors when trying to connect to the MBE still running at R5C7. As far as I understood, both R5D1 and R5C7 make use of basically the same MythTV version, so I have no clue what is going on here... Any ideas? Thanks MIKE |

Sorry, I can't confirm this... I just set up an R5D1 remote frontend that seems to be talking fine with my R5C7 backend. Are you disabling all the stuff that's not needed on your remote frontend, as the wiki recommends? http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... nlyInstall |

Like ceenvee, my R5D1 remote frontend works fine with my R5C7 backend. Not sure what might be the issue with your install, but things I would look at, if you are using a remote front end, is to ensure that the SQL database is connecting to the backend and not the local SQL database on the local machine. This wiki link (below) provides excellent information for setting up a remote frontend, though my setup actually imports the /myth folder on the backend to the frontend, which is beyond the score of the followiing wiki link. http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=FrontendOnlyInstall Hope this helps. |

Hey, that link looks familiar. ![]() Only other thing I'd point out is that I did a clean install, not an upgrade. Not sure if anything that would have gotten restored in the restore process would cause that to happen. |
