I have single box backend and frontend in one. The machine is in the basement and the ntsc video is modulated onto an empty channel on my antenna cable system. I have a computer near where I watch TV and the question is:
Can I change channels on the frontend/backend via a network connection? I tried installing putty and X11 forwarding and starting a remote frontend session but it seemed to be an independant session from the one already running! Is there anyway to control the frontend already running via a network connection?
Thanks,
Ziggy

Yes, Begining with MythTV .19 (version of MythTV in KM R5B7 and later) there is a network control plugin via Telnet. I don't know of any applications that use this control plugin (maybe PlutoHome). In options you can enable the control. Another application that can simulate MythTV keyboard commands via web interface is Mythwifi. I have not tried Mythwifi since R5A30.2 so I am unsure if is still compatible. Search the forums I recall there was a howto on installing Mythwifi.

Thanks! this really narrows down the number of hits in a search! MythWifi looks like what I was looking for. (despite it's name!)
Thanks again.
