Post subject:  Finding channels, but no signal

Hi, greetings from Norway!

I've just installed Knoppmyth R5D1 on a system with a Geforce2 and a Pinnacle-card with a Conexant 878-chip, but can't seem to find any real channels with knoppmyth. The searching for channels goes well (I'm on cable), and Myth finds and stores about 30 or so channels. But when I later try to look at these channels live, all of them appear snowy, like there's no signal at all. All the channels are stored, and the live-tv function seems to change between the stored channels when it should. Recording TV also works ok, but with the same result: a lot of greenish snow.

An "apt-get install xawtv", followed up by searching for channels with xawtv, resulted in a lot of viewable channels in xawtv. But that doesn't help me much, as I want to use this computer as a PVR.

So what can I have been doing wrong? Do I have to alter some config-files in order to make my card work properly under KnoppMyth?

See the troubleshooting page on the wiki. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV Especially the bit about frequency sets if you're in the US.

(Please go put some kind of location in your profile, even if it's just a country or your local SDTV video standard, so that we can provide better advice.)

Ok, thanx, will have a look at the wiki.

Regarding my location: I thought the phrase "Hi, greetings from Norway!" would give some kind of hint where I'm located... :-)

PAL is standard in Norway, and I'm quite sure all my other settings are correct. But I'll take a look at the wiki and go through the list there.

If anyone else has any good ideas, feel free to post!
