Hello, I looked around here and in the wiki but I'm not seeing a cool way to trade recordings with a friend.
I did just see Optical Disks > Archive Files in R5D1 upgraded to .20 and that looks like a way to burn disks of recordings.
Is there a handy way to trade shows, slowly perhaps, over the internet? Do folks do this? Would it work to use the myth browser to reach my friend's mythweb and just download a file to my myth?
I'd really like to hear what folks do for this or even if folks trade recordings with friends. I was thinking of even using Motion and being able to fetch a file remotely.
Thanks for your time

Given typical recording rates, even with cablemodem speeds this is still a lot of data to DL. The asymetric uplink speeds on most peoples connections makes that even truer. You're probably better off swapping DVDs.

There's an old saying about not underestimating the bandwitdh of a station wagon full of tapes. What I'll add is that even in a professional setting with fat pipes we often get/send bulk data from/to customers on phyiscal media because it's faster and more reliable.

Assuming that below is an option for you:

1. Record the program natively in MPEG4 (Plextor M402U or TV402U)

or

2. Transcode within Myth to MPEG4

Now transfer a much smaller file to/from your friend.
