Post subject: | MPEG splitter |
Hi All, I am looking to rejoin my recordings(MPEG2) that i have used avidemux to cut out commercials. I have split the video, but I need a way to join them. Any ideas? If possible please provide linux and windows possibilities(free). Thanks. |

The file does join.. but where it is joined its just stuck. Sure its joined.. but it doesn't just play..with having to skip to the next "good" frame or video segment. cat = no good. Any other ideas? |

Apparently there is an app, mpgcat, which appears to be part of mpgtx, whose homepage seems to be down at the moment. This was pointed to by this page about extracting video from a Tivo. While searching, I came across this forum post which seems to point to some mpeg encoding solutions. Bruce S. |

I'd also recommend to the original poster to try out the lossless transcoding option in MythTV to cut out commercials (as long as the version you're using has the option... it's broken in some versions of MythTV). It works great with SD and HD recordings. http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Removi ... ommercials http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythtr ... _Transcode |

Just as an update, having a look at the mpgtx website, it appears mpeg2 splitting and joining is experimental and considering the last news update appears to November 2005, this doesn't look too promising. Bruce S. |
