| Post subject: | Where is x/mythfrontend started from? |
In knoppmyth what is the procedue used to start x, and from x to mythfrontend? I am looking for the script to run or restart from an ssh session to restart X. Sometimes myth crashes back to the splash screen and I cannot figure the correct way to get the whole thing running again. |

X is started from inittab. If you edit /etc/inittab and and change your default runlevel to 3 X won't start automaticly. mythfrontend is started from KnoppMyth-run which is called from ~mythtv/.fluxbox/apps to restart X run "startx" -- to startx and mythfrontend from an a remote ssh session do export DISPLAY=:0.0; startx; mythfrontend If your just dropping out to the splash screen, all you need to do is restart the frontend. do you know why frontend is crashing? |

Thanks for the help. I have it figured it out - I was confused a bit between X background after frontend crashed (or exited) and the bootsplash screen. Anyway I think I will look at one of those automotic restart scripts for mythfrontend. I dunno why it crashed, I was watching an avi with the Internal player, I have had problems with avis from the same series of dowloads. Cheers. |
