Post subject: | Change Tuner card priority |
Hey everyone. I have a problem I would like to get some feed back on. I have searched but have not found anything helpful. If I missed it, please point me in the right direction. I built a Knoppmyth box not too long ago using an OLD tv tuner (Hauppauge bt8038 from '98 I think). I have been slowly upgrading the box and this past weekend I finally got a new Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500. I decided that I might as well keep the old card just-in-case. Maybe one day I will have a need to record 3 shows at once...or something... I finally got everything configured and the difference between the new hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500 and the old card is night and day. The quality difference is amazing, however, MythTV still records off of the old one first. I can not figure out how to tell MythTV to use the old card as the last resort and the new dual-card as the first 2 choices. I know how to change between tuners, but the recording (no matter what I have tried) always defaults to the old card. Is there an easy way to change this? I am pretty sure that this can be changed at install time (at least I think i remember it) but I dont know how to change this after install. Can anyone help out? Thanks! |

I would be interested to know how to do this aswell. One of my DVB cards is has far better sensitivity than the other, I definately want it as number 1. So far the only way i have found to ensure its number 1 is install the better card first, set it all up and then add your older card later. |

I believe the tuner priority is based on the order they were added in the backend setup utility. I think you can remove all cards in the setup on the backend and add them back in the order you want them to have priority. |

I believe that is the default. There's actually an input priority setting you can make too, but I forget exactly where. Maybe under Input Connections? |

I'm pretty sure there's a priority setting in the tuner setup. I've definitely got mine set to favor one card over the other, for certain channels. This is done with a combination of tuner priority and channel priority. |

This is done with a combination of tuner priority and channel priority. I really appreciate everyone responding. I found a few suggestions around the net but got nothing to work. So I backed up and am reinstalling. I found in the installation that it is possible to set up tuner priority and configure the cards. I personally think this should be easy to find somewhere after installation as well. Thanks again for your responces. |

I think what you are looking for is mythtv-setup. <ALT>-s brings up this setup screen for the backend (cards, connections, channels, etc.). You can also bring it up from the command line with the command mythtv-setup. Allen |

BTW - Input Connections is menu item 4 under mythtv-setup. See the wiki page here for how to get back into mythtv-setup - http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=GettingBackIntoMytTVsetup The entry field you want is "Input priority" is the last one on the form for each input. |
