I installed R5D7 and the system works fine for 10+ minutes. then the
image freezes. Then it goes black. Then I do a hard reboot and
df shows hda 100%

I go to /var/lib/mythtv and delete the huge file. then df shows 61%
and all is fine

for another 10+ minutes (until the huge *.mpg file grows again.)

help. I assume there is a congif file somewhere that could tell the .mpg file to be built on the non-root partition.

Tell us details about your setup. You installed with manual or auto? What size harddrive do you have? Are there any errors displayed during boot up? (use the command 'dmesg' to see boot up messages).

It looks like you are not mounting the /myth partition correctly. There should be a root '/' partition and a separate '/myth' partition.

Did you do a manual install and not make the file system on the hda3 partition?

Hi,

df -h will tell the story of who is on first. As ryanpatterson pointed out, the method of install / upgrade may have left your "/myth" as part of h(s)da1 instead of the intended location of a second partition.

I thought I had done a dead simple, standard automatic install. perhaps not

df -h returns

/dev/hda1 3.4G 2.0G 61% /
/dev/hda4 136G 67M 1% /myth

dmesg shows no "errors"
and the Myth dir seems to be mounted correctly on hda4

I started to watch a live channel and stopped after a few seconds.

the created file (in /var/lib/mythtv) is about 45M
it is named 1032_20061122193952.mpg

perhaps you might suggest which config file to look in where a "temp" video file is being requested. (my non-programmer thought)

Hi,

Go through your utility/setup settings, /var/lib/mythtv should be /myth/tv and be sure to check the video, music, gallery also.

AHHHHH,
I found the setting in the backend setup (alt-S) not in the frontend (Alt-M)

I am re-booting and hope that will fix all.
many thanks
