Hey, I have been working for a while with mythtv and it works pretty good, I am very satisfied with it. I got CC working pretty much out of the box with the mythtv 0.20, and I can see the closed captions while watching recorded shows on mythtv. I wonder if there is a way to embed those captions on the ?mpg? files so that I could see them when opening them on mplayer/vlc/etc or my xbox (with xmbc) ???

(BTW I have a pvr-250 + ubuntu + mythtv 0.20)

Hi,
If I understand your question, you are looking for permanent burn in of CC? CC data is embeded in line 21 of video and it is the monitor/tv that does the decode normally. As long as line 21 stays clean then the display should decode properly.

The only way I know of a burn in would be to use an adapter/convertor <vga - ntsc> then use the computer video (with cc) and convert to video looping back into the 250 and re-record now with the displayed cc. It would be there till the chickens crossed the road.
