(edit) Turns out the latest 2.0 version of the client from nomachine is not compatible with the version of freenx. You need to obtain the older 1.5 version of the client. For more info see my follow up post below. Waiting for authentication Authentication completed Negotiating link parameters (fairly large delay on this one then finally a new pop up:) Could not yet establish a connection the the remote proxy. Do you want to terminate the current session? Yes No Not critical since putty works just fine but it would be handy to get this working. |

With some google-ing found the following: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_FreeNX_Server which explains that the 2.0 version of the client on nomachine.com's site will not work with the latest version of freenx (on KnoppMyth). Fortunately the above gentoo wiki has a pointer to the 1.5 version: http://www.industrial-statistics.com/info/nxclients Also this following post mentions that 2x.com also has a freenx (they simply call it linux nx) compatible client that is available for free (didn't try it since it is both a client and a server?) should the 1.5 version ever completely disappear: http://groups.google.com/group/linux.de ... 241d0ee635 For reference, here is another post that mentions the 2.0 freenx incompatibility: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ght=freenx |
