I just started setting up my first KnoppMyth box yesterday (it's not working yet, I still need to get my two ATI TV-Wonders working, but I have some leads, and that's a topic for another thread). I'm wondering if there's any way to setup multiple users. For example, I live in a dorm room (suite) with a few other people, and would like to allow everyone to use the system. What I don't want people to be able to do is delete each other's recordings or scheduled recordings. I'd also like to set quotas so one person doesn't use all the hard drive space. Are these features available? I've searched, but haven't found anything helpful. Am I missing something? --kivid |

There has been some motion towards implementing what you describe into mythtv. But it isn't there yet. I don't think it is planed for mythtv .21 either. Your best bet is to check the developers mailing list. |

Thanks ryanpatterson, I just checked that out. It looks like there are a few people who want this, and it was even a Summer of Code 2006 project. I wonder if it was finished, or where it was left off. I suppose just changing file permissions on the recordings will be good enough for me until something like this makes its way into MythTV. I'll let the other guys battle it out if someone deletes an episode of their favorite show. |
