I have configured my box to use WOL so that I can conserve power when not required. This works very well, except that before a back-end shutdown is authorised, it appears to need to update its program database. This took all night once (although there was a database problem I descovered in mysql.err). In the setup screens, I have disabled automatic update, but it seems to ignore this setting. I wondered if it is related to the machine being booted when required, sometimes several times a day? I am running Dragon hardware with a R5A30.2 version. Any help would be appreciated. Algenon. |

No, you can run it less frequently, just so long as you''ve got the info you need to schedule. On the flip side, some channels have a lot of last minute schedule changes and corrections. It all depends on what you're recording. |

Thanks tjc, but how do I control the frequency of update if the settings in the setup page are ignored? Is this a bug, or is it scheduled elsewhere? Algenon. |

How old is your KnoppMyth? (hint: cat /etc/KnoppMyth-version) There used to be a cron entry in older versions which you had to remove. Let me see if I can find you the directions...
