| Post subject: | Are the newer cards better then the PCHD-3000? |
I have a PCHD-3000 and the HD tuner in my TV seems to work better so I was wondering if the newer cards are better the 5000 or the 5500. I have seen some postings that say the 3000 is better and others that say the 5000 is better. Most of these postings are from older versions of knoppmyth or about 8 months ago when the card first came out. So I was just wondering that people think now. I would think that these cards would do better than my TV tunner? |

If you are talking about the Broadcom 3000 that the company sells at discount of ebay for ~40 I have it. I thought it was working pretty good PBS HD etc, until I noticed that NFL games seemed to have an choppiness to it...sorta like an early internet video. I read somewhere to increase my memory to 1GB, I had a Athlon 64bit 2800+ so I think I'm just barely good enough there. Nothing to report yet since my antenna is down due to the holidays and the fact that I had a RG6 cable running along the baseboards. |

I don't think one can truly say which card is better. It all depends on where you live. How far one is away from the broadcast tower and the terrain and structures between you and the the tower. The antenna one has also comes into play. No idea for QAM. |
