I was about to tryout the xe emulator that was added in R5D1 and couldn't seem to locate it. I looked in /usr/bin/ as well as /usr/games/ and didn't find any reference to it. Was it dropped when R5E50 was rebuilt from scratch? Also, I noticed dgen in /usr/bin/. Is dgen now included for genesis emulation? Thanks for the info. |

i can't find it either... i'm using dgens, but i'm curious about xe becuase it does more than genesis emulation. did this get eliminated from R5E50? BTW... it's almost impossible to search the forums for "xe" because it's only 2 letters. thanks! |

Hello, I am also running R5D1, and I have gotten Xe to work (mostly). The binary is in /usr/local/bin/. You can setup the emulator through the main menu on the front end utilities/setup=>media settings=>game settings=>players. Select 'add new' and follow the instructions at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Co ... troduction. There are two caveats: (1) if you are using joysticks of some kind (I use Logitech Dual Action USB controllers); after launching Xe you need to get to the menu (hit esc once), open edit=>settings=>options and set the joystick devices to /dev/jy0 (or 1 or 2 depending on how many are connected). You also have to set Xe to use the joysticks under File=>Inputs. (2) I haven't yet gotten Xe to open the game files from the Mythgame menu; I have to launch Xe through selecting some file in mythgame, get to the menu, and manually load the game. Good luck, Jeremiah |

Thanks for the info. I just checked and in R5E50 xe is not in /usr/local/bin/, so I'm going to say that it was left out of the rebuild. |

Simple oversight, it will be in the next release. If you want now, apt-get install libgtk2-dev (if I remember correctly) and compile from source. |
