Hi All,

Can someone please point me in the right direction as to how you would uninstall the ivtv drivers that I currently have loaded?

I have been searching for information on this for a while and I can not find any HOWTO. As I mentioned I am new to the Linux world so I could really use some direction.

My problem is I installed a newer unstable version of a IVTV driver that is giving me some problems. I would like to completely uninstall the current driver and install an older stable version of the driver.

If possible I do not wish to install over the top of the current version. Does this make sense?

Any suggestions?

Not particularly, you're getting yourself hung up on thw wrong details. Just reinstall the older drivers, it should do the right thing.

FYI, I've been using the latest 0.3.9 ivtv driver - works well with my hardware but you have to remove the duplicate modules in the v4l2 folder or they will conflict and the driver won't work correctly.

Yes, those and possibly a few others.

I guess that v4l2 folder comes with this distro but it sure can cause problems.

I was scratching my head for hours trying to figure that one out.

Would it be safe just to hide/move/delete the entire v4l2 folder if we are using IVTV 3.9 or the like? Or are there some fils in there still being used that don't conflict?

I originally moved the v4l2 folder to a different location but then I lost sound.

I'm not sure if this was because a v4l2 sound module didn't get loaded or some other issue I was having that day.

You could certainly try it and move it back if you have problems.

I think the video 4 linux folks need to get together with the ivtv people and merge the projects to avoid potential problems like this.

The latest ivtv driver is very good, and is certainly a big improvement over the version that comes with KnoppMyth R5A16. I think they are close to a stable release, BTW.

I just installed ivtv-0.4.0 - yikes, it was just posted today....but they call it the latest "stable" release so surely it will solve all of my problems...

(Note that the modules to remove/rename are actually found in an "ivtv" folder, not in /media/video. Do the search they recommend and you'll find them)

Just to be safe, I downloaded the latest firmwares - whether I needed them or not.

Fingers are crossed and test recordings are in progress - Here's to all of our ivtv issues being resolved!
