4 clients
1 backend
4 DVB cards
all R5E50

Is there a way to restrict access from one of the clients ? So that, that specific client can only access one of the DVB cards ?

I can see - this is on the wish list.....
"Parental controls / User permissions"

http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Featur ... _Addons%29

So I guess it is not possible ?

(haven't got a clue about sql)
Would it be possible to copy the sql database, and just remove the entries for the cards that are not allowed from the client - then from the client, point to that copy of the sql database ?
Well aware that updates won't be in the copy of the sql database ?

pretty sure that wont do what you want.

the frontend doesn't point to a database, but rather a backend. The backend points to the database. You dont want multiple backends, unless you want two separate unrelated myth environments.

Thinking about this as I type, the frontend doenst actually access the cards, it asks the backend to access the cards.

Are you trying to limit 'viewing live' to a particular front end of viewing recordings created with the special card to a particular frontend? With the loss of the ringbuffer, these activities are about the same.

I cant think of a way to do what you are asking
